Impressions – What a wickedly good episode and at the same time pretty damn freaky. Blood Bending made its debut and Avatar being for the most part a kid’s show, you got to wonder how they let the writers go through with the concept of Blood Bending in the first place.
With the ability to control every molecule of water within a person’s bloodstream, Blood Bending allows you to control the person’s body as if it were a lifeless puppet. The possibilities were limited to simply controlling a person’s body in this episode, but you could imagine how far they would have taken it if they removed the age rating on this show.
Anyways this episode also showed how Katara could now extract water from any living plant or animal when no source of water is available. So no more Katara breaking a sweat like a few episodes ago and using it for her water bending, which was pretty gross. A very dangerous technique, but it does bring the possibility she could literally kill every one in one shot by removing the water from their bodies, but since she isn’t much of a killer I doubt that’s going to happen at all.
As for the old granny, have to feel sad for her. Her revenge was justified, but she should had done it on soldiers only then it wouldn’t have been so bad.

this was i think the best episode in the entire show after “the drill” and “the blind bandit” its so sad that people who love anime would reject this show, yet IMHO it puts naruto and bleach to shame. the story and the actions scenes simply blow me away.

I love Avatar, and further stretched out my anime backlog by watching the four episodes released in the UK yesterday. It’s amazing what they can get away with in a show for kids. This had to be one of the freakiest episodes.
Yeah, when I saw those four episodes on the bots yesterday I was like … god damn I have a paper to write .. there goes 2 hours …
anyways great to see some people watching this show .. though we all know the following for it is pretty huge outside the anime community anyways …

I must agree. Blood bending is really spine chilling. My little sister watched it with me and I thought that it isn’t too bad for a children’s show…. let me tell you I have seen worse. I thought it was strange when they didn’t talk about it at all in episode 309.

dont really think you understand that it takes a while for them to MAKE the new episodes and plan for further seasons. as for blood bending i dont think its creapy. they’re are alot of chat rooms from years ago wondering why no one had thought of it. as long as the blood isn’t able to be ripped from bodies its fairly friendly to younger audiences.

I saw it at night and it was so scary, that old woman was crazy. she shouldn’t have sought revenge by imprisoning those villagers she was just sinking to thier level. blood bending is creepy great show though. i love avatar it is awesome!
