Baka to Test to Shokanju – 03

Disappointingly enough, I found this episode to be only mildly amusing as compared to the previous two which I adore. The problem here is quite simply this episode is just not stupid enough for its own good.

Sure sure, there’s dudes in ballerina costumes and what not, but I really didn’t find any of it funny. Usually the show has been great with quirky humor but it wasn’t doing anything for me this time around. At least the last bit with the gay guy’s unexpected love note saved the show from the not-so-interesting high school romance theme of the episode.

I think the conventional dating focus hurts the humor potential, I rather prefer they stick to the school setting and battle it out some more. Exam battles are the periods the show gets really good since it just gets really dumb in a good way. A long and overdone high school romance scene on top of the roof is boring!

It really doesn’t look good either that Class F has a three month period they can’t declare battles, though they do have that detention teacher taking over to whip these guys’ brains into shape, so at least we’ll see how Class F will fair later.
