Bamboo Blade – 01 – 03 – Full of Win and Awesomeness

I love this show. I love this show more than I love Clannad, and I do love my yuri-oozing Clannad. But none the less Bamboo Blade has to be one of those shows everyone has already thrown out the window besides me.

For starters it’s not “sportsy” to say, nothing like Prince of Tennis in nature as people have been suspecting. Well I can’t say that for sure, as we are only 4 episodes in, and I haven’t even seen the 4th one yet, damn you slow subbers. But from what I have seen it’s a more character driven show than anything else and by golly the quirky characters in this show are hilarious.

We have Tama, master of Kendo and lover of what has to be Power Rangers. She’s small, she’s cute, and not afraid to kick some serious punk ass in the name of justice. Apparently she’s been watching too many Power Rangers episodes, which is cool and all since I did too at that age (Pink Ranger = Hawt).

Then we have Dan and Miya-Miya, my favorite couple of the season. I love how they drew this guy, basically an egg shape and a few lines for a head attached to a chubby-short body. Then they have him paired up to the attractive Miya-Miya, whose killer psycho side has been gradually emerging, but not yet fully realized.

As for what the hell this show is about, basically the dirt poor coach has made a bet against his childhood friend, who is also a kendo teacher, that if he can assemble a girls’ kendo team that can defeat his girls’ team in a practice match, he’ll be treated to free meals at a sushi restaurant for a whole year.

Overall, Bamboo Blade so far along with Clannad, and … maybe Myself; Youself have managed to garner some interest from me.
