I know what I like and I definitely know I like Casshern.
Ruin has befallen the land. The once immortal robots have found themselves facing the cold-harsh face of death as they rust away because of Ruin. In the middle of it all is Casshern, the one who has caused Ruin to strike upon the robots, but he wouldn’t know why and how as he has lost his memories. In the robots’ desperate attempt to keep on living, they fight Casshern, believing in the rumor that eating him will grant them eternal life.
Behind his speed, agility and strength, Casshern fights with a killing intent. Even though his enemies are robots, you’ll feel as though they are human as Casshern viciously rips out the inner wires and cords that make up his opponents like an animal.
However, behind that fighting exterior is a calm individual in search for answers that will lead him to find out who and what exactly is he and how he has caused Ruin to envelope the land.
Impressions – I was shocked by how much I loved this first episode. Honestly this was probably the last show I believe I would have had showed any interest in. I already came in with assumptions on what I expected to see within the first five minutes, but boy was I wrong. What we have here is very dark and serious, despite initial impressions that you are looking at a guy in what can be best described as a cool looking Power Ranger costume.
Even though the first half of the show was all somber and dreary, the second half was relatively the opposite, as Casshern interacts with the adorably cute robot Ringo. It’s just too bad he scared the living shit out of Ringo as he fought and dismantled an enemy robot in front of her.
