Casshern is still in shock because he was unable to stop himself from massacring the entire village. Depressed and generally pissed at himself, he departs from the town, not however before he sees off Friender who is still watching over the rusting robot corpse of his former master.
The rest of the episode focuses on Casshern and his new found human buddy Akoes, a drifter of sorts, as they traversed the open and lonely landscape of the land. Akoes is surprised that Casshern’s body has not yet been affected by the Ruin and Casshern is equally surprised to find out Akoes is a real human.
As the two are camping out for the night, Friender has followed Casshern to settle the score for killing his master. Casshern and Friender fight it out for a while, Friender being able to rip a small piece of Casshern’s arm off and surprisingly Casshern is bleeding. However all this time Casshern plans to lose, to atone for his sins, and decides to give Friender a chance to deal him a final blow and end it all. But as Friender charges he decides to not kill Casshern and avoids shredding his head off.
By the end of the episode, Akoes and Casshern with Friender separate. As they drift to the different sides of the hill, Akoes gives into his illness and dies.
Impressions – Pretty uneventful. Casshern plays along with a dieing man and goes lizard hunting. I don’t think anyone was surprised Friender joins Casshern.
