Having finished the Inuyasha anime, I felt as though I owed it to myself to at least continue by reading the manga. I had spent a large investment of time getting into the series and now have a real urge to see what happens with my favorite characters. So I began with volume 38, right off where the anime had abruptly ended and surprisingly the transition from anime to manga was pretty seamless.
Asides from the immediate fillers I had to trudge through, I liked what I read. Inuyasha has once again upgraded his sword, though he was apprehensive to use it since he was told a half-demon like him could not withstand the immense heat that was being emitted from his sword Tessaiga. Every time Inuyasha used this new sword power it would severely burn and injure his hands.
Asides from Inuyasha’s new sword, Hakudoshi finally died! Hurray! Never really cared for that silly brat, good riddance. Now the Inuyasha crew has to deal with that ugly Moryomaru in his place who is pretty much getting stronger every time I read a new volume.
I was not a happy camper when Kagura had died. Not pleased at all. She was given a nice peaceful death, but I would have been far happier if she had successfully escaped Naraku unharmed. Sesshomaru’s short but sweet presence during her last moments was a nice touch though.
Speaking of Sesshomaru, he played a kick ass role during the fight against Moryomaru. We see he broke his usual composure when Moryomaru had mentioned Kagura’s passing. And not only was his composure broken, so was his sword in his attempt to break the Jewel Fragment embedded deep within Moryomaru’s hard outer shell. Now weaponless, asides from his Tenseiga, I can’t imagine what he is going to replace his sword with.
