One Piece – Movie 7

The Straw Hat Pirates are off to … solve riddles?

The Straw Hat crew manages to nab themselves a treasure box. In hopes of landing it big, they open it only to find an old lady inside. Promising them the Golden Crown if they return her home, Luffy agrees even though there’s no proof of the Golden Crown’s existence.

The movie follows the gang as they crack the puzzle to a mysterious song that will lead them to the Golden Crown. That’s pretty much the movie in a nutshell. The rest of the movie is just a huge generic and contrived mess of a plot line.

Not expecting too much out of any One Piece movie (especially in the story department) since I only usually watch them for the fight scenes, I feel as though I was robbed by the end of the movie. There are no fights, period. The poor excuse of a five minute one-sided brawl at the very end doesn’t even justify the hour and a half I spent watching this nonsense. You’d think a movie with Mecha in the title would be remotely promising of cool robots right? Yeah … nowhere to be found.

I couldn’t have imagined anything being worse than the 8th One Piece movie I recently saw, but this proves to be at the very bottom of the barrel. The only good thing this movie manages to accomplish is having Nami’s boobs jiggle in every scene.

I am now crossing my fingers the 9th movie can rise to mediocrity.
