Emo girl destroys Tokyo through the power of text messaging? Japanese phones are no toys.
All kidding aside (though that would have been a cooler story no?) the premise of this show revolves around a “what-if” scenario of an earthquake registering an 8.0 on the Richter scale hitting the city of Tokyo. Just to put that into perspective, the scale is on a 1 – 10, and according to Wikipedia (the best source material available thank you very much) 10 has never occurred, so … 8.0 is pretty damn dangerous if you were ever caught in one.
So back to the emo girl, I mean ______. Look at that, I care so little about this girl I don’t even know her name and just left it blank! Her life is just a sorry mess in her eyes seeing as all her friends are doing cool things for their summer vacations and here she is going to start hers by taking her little brother to a robot exhibition, fun times. Her grades are slipping and her parents are on a rocky relationship. Did I mention she’s glued to her cell phone texting away 24/7. Well no need to complain so early I guess, I’m sure (and I hope) they’ll improve her to the point that I’ll care about her, because as it stands now her little brother is much better developed and he’s just portrayed as an ordinary Japanese boy that’s into robots.
Well crossing my fingers for a better show next week. I can’t leave without saying something positive now can I, the animation/character designs I like a lot. You really can’t get away with something stylized with this type of realistic story they are trying to tell.
Oh if my opening sentence made no sense, the earthquake happens as she sends a text to her friend stating that she’s had enough (no surprise here) and that the world should just break. Lame I know, but it’s going to happen one way or another.
