Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 – 07

Neglecting too much of the episode itself, I was too preoccupied with thoughts of whether these god damn robots were real or not. The show touts its realism based on real-world simulations, so I better be able to find these robots on the internet. Lo and behold … they sure got me.

Well I did manage to find one … here’s the thing that saved Kento’s parents.

In turn I found something even more awesome, the man eating robot. Wouldn’t it be awesome to wake up inside this thing? You’d freak out alright.

As for the spider looking one, I got nothing. The best I came up with is this robot from Ghost in the Shell … I don’t think this counts … maybe someone animating likes GitS or maybe has some hidden agenda to get the government to fund the project? I did laugh when Yuuki managed to touch one only to be scolded by the operator.

Back to the episode. Mirai’s old-self appeared for a couple of minutes when her anti-nerd radar was exploding as she proved to be more of an ass to the robot fanatic Kento. Probably jealous her little brother can make friends faster than she ever could.

Mirai finally grows up and realizes that maybe … just maybe … she has been a little ungrateful to her parents and quite a bad child to them. I almost shed a tear she was capable of such introspection of herself.

As for the whole ordeal with Kento, there is something wrong with this boy’s noggin. While there’s nothing wrong with liking robots, there’s something wrong when you’re hanging onto the ledge of a collapsed building while also holding onto an inanimate robot while your own life is at danger. This kid needs to get his priorities straight. Drop the robot you silly kid!
